Haryana Janhit Congress

Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) is a regional political party based in the Indian state of Haryana. It was started as a breakaway faction of the Indian National Congress (INC) party by former INC leader and former Haryana Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal, in 2007.

The victory of the Indian National Congress in Haryana's 2005 assembly elections caused a major rift in its state unit, as it opted to make Bhupinder Hooda, a leader of the Jat caste, the Chief Minister instead of Bhajan Lal. Although Bhajan initially cooled down, speculation over his departure from the party was ended in March 2007, when he officially announced he would form a new party. The key event that brought this about was the suspension of his son Kuldeep Bishnoi from the Indian National Congress, for criticizing the party's central leaders.

In August 2009 it joined hands with Bahujan Samaj Party but the alliance could not last long. Later he even tried to have a tie up with BJP but could not succeed. Finally, HJC had to fight election alone.
2009 Elections

In 2009 Lok sabha elections, party won Hisar where Bhajan Lal emerged as winner.

In 2009 vidhan sabha elections, party emerged winner on following six seats. However, most embarrassing defeat was when Jasma Devi, mother of party supremo was defeated by Prof Sampat Singh from Nalwa constituency, a pocket borough of Bhajan Lal clan for last 40 years.
